Home Remedies for Increased skin sensitivity to sunlight

Aloe Vera

Apply pure aloe vera gel (without colors or fragrances) to affected areas 2-3 times daily, especially after sun exposure.

Green Tea

Place cooled green tea bags on affected areas for 15-20 minutes. Alternatively, dab with a cloth soaked in cold green tea.

Coconut Oil

Massage a small amount of virgin coconut oil on affected areas daily. Ensure you apply sunscreen if heading outdoors.

Wear Protective Clothing

Opt for clothing made from tightly woven fabrics. UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) rated clothing is also beneficial.

Calendula

Apply calendula cream or ointment to sensitive areas 1-2 times daily or as needed.

Oatmeal

Add 1-2 cups of finely ground oatmeal to lukewarm bath water. Soak for 15-20 minutes, then rinse off.

Cucumber

Place thinly sliced cucumbers on sensitive areas for 15-20 minutes. Replace with fresh slices if they become warm.

Vitamin E

Gently massage vitamin E oil or cream onto affected skin areas daily, particularly after sun exposure.

Broad Spectrum Sunscreen

Use at least a teaspoon for the face and a shot glass worth for the body. Remember to reapply every 2 hours.

Stay Hydrated

Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water daily. Hydrated skin can better cope with environmental stressors.

Witch Hazel

Dab a cloth soaked in witch hazel on affected areas 2-3 times daily or as needed.

Avoid Peak Sun Hours

Limit sun exposure between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. If outdoors, seek shade or use protective clothing.

Sunglasses

Choose sunglasses labeled as blocking 99% to 100% of UVA and UVB rays.

Lavender Essential Oil

Mix 2-3 drops of lavender essential oil with a tablespoon of carrier oil. Apply to affected areas after testing on a small patch.

Cold Compress

Apply a cold compress or damp cloth for 15-20 minutes. Repeat several times a day as needed.

Milk Compress

Soak a cloth in cold milk and apply to the skin for 10-15 minutes. Rinse off afterward.

Avoid Perfumed Products

Check product labels to ensure they're fragrance-free. This can help avoid potential irritants.

Shea Butter

Apply a small amount to affected areas daily. For best results, use after bathing to lock in moisture.

Seek Shade

Opt for shaded areas whenever possible, especially during peak sun hours.

Tomato Juice

Apply fresh tomato juice to a small test area first. If no irritation occurs, apply to sunburned areas for relief.
